The
Qur’an
is the
central religious book of Islam. The Qur’an is the book of
divine guidance and direction for mankind and the final
revelation of God. Mulims believe that the Qur’an was
revealed to Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) by the angel
Jibril (Gabriel) over a period of approximately
twenty-three years, when he was forty. Followers of Islam
believe that the Qur’an was written down by Muhammad's
companions while he was alive but the primary method of
transmission was oral recitation. The Quran was fixed in
writing shortly after Muhammad's death (Peace be upon him)
by order of Abu Bakr and Umar. Formalization of the
orally transmitted text was completed under Uthman with
the standard edition known as the "Uthmanic recension".
The present form of the Qur’an is accepted as the original
Arabic text revealed upon Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
The Qur’an
is the main miracle of Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), as
proof of his prophethood and is the culmination of a
series of divine messages. These started with the messages
revealed to Adam who was the first prophet. Three books
were revealed before the revelation of the holy Quran,
names are Tawrat, Zabur and Injil. The Qur'an is the book
of guidance that rarely offers detailed accounts of
specific historical events and emphasizes the moral
significance of an event over its narrative sequence.
One of the
aspect of the Quran which indicates its unique and
exceptional nature is the inexhaustible attraction that it
contains.Today , the captivating sound of the Quran's
recitation can still be heard in all the different parts
of the World after the revelation of the holy Quran which
is older more than fourteen centuries.
